If you are a church leader we are bombarded with so many ministries to oversee and leaders to empower. Many times these meetings probably don’t accomplish much. If this is the case here are some simple reminders of how to empower those serving in the church.
Five things to make sure you go over when you meet with ministry leaders. Thanks to Seacoast Church.
1. Personal
2. Priority Goals (top 2)
3. Problems they’ve come across
4. Plan - 2 or 3 things for them to do
5. Pray

After spending a week in San Diego and a week in Florida, I can’t believe we choose to live in Michigan. Now the people up here are awesome and I love our church. Can we all just move a couple thousand miles west or several hundred south?

So to finish my post from yesterday, I have to tell you that Noel and I ended up in San Diego 2 minutes apart, which is pretty fantastic considering neither of us where too excited about waiting until who knows when for there other to show up at the airport.
Today has been good and long. I got up early, ran a couple miles and then we headed out to the Leadership Network Multi-Site conference. Mark Driscoll taught and was funnier than usual, I’ll have to grab my notes later and give you some of his one-liners. I went to a very informative lecture by a pastor at Seacoast Community on Leadership Development. Noel and I also made some good connectiongs with people there including Todd Rhodes of mondaymorninginsight.com.
Then we went to a Leadership Network church planting community conference where we were guest observers. They network in a quality way. They are efficient and gathering information and making connections, so it’s cool to see churches share resources to help advance the gospel.
I left the conference early and drove down to San Diego to meet with Brian Thomas who owns Semper Reformanda Records which is our record label and had dinner and a great Stone Smoked Porter. What Brian is doing is very cool, bringing together worship leaders and music to resource churches.
So busy day, time to veg out on tv.

Well, the weather sucks in lansing. That’s why I’m really glad to be heading to San Diego today. I’m actually waiting in Chicago (where it’s -6 and -28 with the wind chill). I have had a crazy day today. Here’s the rundown:
1. Got up at 5:45
2. Picked up Noel at 6:30
3. Got to the Lansing Airport at 7am
4. Found out that my flight was cancelled (Noel’s wasn’t but that’s a long story in itself)
5. They taxied us to Grand Rapids.
6. Got there late for my rescheduled flight
7. They got me on another flight to Chicago then direct to San Diego.
8. I find out that Noel is delayed in Minniapolis and won’t be in San Diego until about 8:30pm Pacific Time.
9. My flight in Chicago is overbooked so I volunteer to take a flight two hours later.
10. I get a free rountrip ticket to use in the lower 48 wherever I want.
11. I get to fly 1st class here in about an hour to San Diego.
I’m guessing I’ll be pretty tired tonight, but Stone Brewery is only 2 miles from our hotel, so I’ll probably grab a pint on the outdoor patio where is should be about 65 degrees. Ah, summer…
