Paste Magazine is now letting you pick your price (starting at $1) for a year’s subscription. To be honest, Paste is my favorite magazine and it includes new sampler cds of good music with every issue. Thanks Brett for finding this.

Thanks to Ben Witherington For this quote.
“I fear, wherever riches have increased, the essence of religion has decreased in the same proportion. Therefore, I do not see how it is possible, in the nature of things, for any revival of religion to continue long. For religion must necessarily produce both industry and frugality, and these cannot but produce riches. But as riches increase, so will pride, anger, and love of the world in all its branches.”
— John Wesley (1703-1791).

Yesterday afternoon I got a call from Tricia Miller and found out that JR, who is our High School Director and a good friend, was working on his in-laws brakes and somehow had stabbed himself in the eye with needle nose pliers. They are on their way to Ann Arbor for surgery. Pray that it will be successful and that not infection sets in, otherwise there can be permanent damage.

This is a book I haven’t read yet, but there are dozens of reviews out right now including a very mixed review by Emergent’s own Andrew Jones and a very critical review by Tim Challies
Here’s an excerpt of Challies’s review:
McLaren will bring thousands of sincere people with him in his quest to see how Jesus addresses the world’s most serious problems. I hope these people count the cost. I hope they know what they must reject in order to be a new kind of Christian; they must reject the very heart of the gospel. After reading this book it is my hope and prayer that this marks the time when the Emerging Church realizes that if it is to maintain anything even remotely resembling biblical orthodoxy, it must stop now and it must abandon Brian McLaren. They must say “enough is enough” and turn back.

So our family is now entering the world of pink pajamas, playing “house”, and the prospect of attending dance recitals as much as we’ll be going to soccer games. Yes, that’s right, we are having a girl.
Do you have any good ideas for names?

Tonight as Suz and I were tucking Jaden in, he prayed this:
“God I just pray that Daddy would sleep really good tonight and that he would eat healthy foods and not a lot of junk food, but he would eat healthy foods and then after rest time he can have a popsicle. Amen. “

We are fearfully and wonderfully made, even our pouch of bacteria has an important function.
