About the ENTP
Expert Quotes & Links
“ENTPs are idea people. Their perceptive abilities cause them to see possibilities everywhere. They get excited and enthusiastic about their ideas, and are able to spread their enthusiasm to others. In this way, they get the support that they need to fulfill their visions”
- Portrait of an ENTP (The Personality Page)
“It is so natural for these individuals to practice devising gadgets and mechanisms, that they start doing it even as young children. And they get such a kick out of it that they really never stop exercising their inventive bent”
- The Portrait of the Inventor Rational (Keirsey)
“ENTPs are usually verbally as well as cerebrally quick, and generally love to argue–both for its own sake, and to show off their often-impressive skills… argument as a sport.”
- ENTP Profile (TypeLogic)
“ENTPs contribute an innovative, versatile, and enterprising approach to work. They view limitations as challenges to be overcome and look for new ways to do things. They need to find a niche for themselves in order to be free to maneuver. They prefer the start-up phase of a project rather than the followthrough or maintenance phase. Once the project is designed, they prefer to turn it over to someone else.”
- ENTP - The Innovator (Lifexplore)
“…attention seeking, experience junky, insensitive, adaptable, not easily offended, messy, carefree, dangerous, fearless, careless…”

Samuel Beckett, the Irish playwrite who’s plays encapsulated the post-modern detachment was known for bleak comments such as
What do I know of man’s destiny? I could tell you more about radishes.
and
You’re on earth. There’s no cure for that.
He also wrote a very powerful play called Waiting for Godot, in which two characters continually wait, and wait and wait for their “savior”, Godot. Of course he never comes and it can be a very depressing or on the other hand, a very motivating story. When I saw it I think my heart went out to those without hope more than ever. If you ever get the chance, you should check it out.
I was also thinking about how we are waiting for God. And even with our Christmas Eve services coming up, we see the story of expectation. The prophets had predicted a savior and some people were believers in the messiah, some were doubters, some were Jewish only in the political sense of the word. And so Jesus is born and I love this passage, he is taken to the temple for the Hebrew custom of Circumcision and is presented in the presence of a man named Simeon and also a prophetess Anna.
25Now there was a man named Simeon who lived in Jerusalem. He was a righteous man and very devout. He was filled with the Holy Spirit, and he eagerly expected the Messiah to come and rescue Israel. 26The Holy Spirit had revealed to him that he would not die until he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. 27That day the Spirit led him to the Temple. So when Mary and Joseph came to present the baby Jesus to the Lord as the law required, 28Simeon was there. He took the child in his arms and praised God, saying,
29 “Lord, now I can die in peace!
As you promised me,30 I have seen the Savior
31 you have given to all people.
32 He is a light to reveal God to the nations,
and he is the glory of your people Israel!”33Joseph and Mary were amazed at what was being said about Jesus. 34Then Simeon blessed them, and he said to Mary, “This child will be rejected by many in Israel, and it will be their undoing. But he will be the greatest joy to many others. 35Thus, the deepest thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your very soul.”
It’s amazing to see that God had revealed this truth to Simeon. I’m sure no one would naturally expect Jesus to come in this way. Joseph and Mary were, I’m sure still tired from their travels (and giving birth…) the city was bustling because of the census and in the middle of all the commotion, a savior is born. Simeon was a lucky guy for this to be revealed to him. We are pretty lucky too. For me it’s good to take some time and read that story and remember that the Word became Flesh.
Merry Christmas.

Well, since I haven’t been inspired to really blog much lately, I’m just going to leave it at this. Thanks Dave.

Ok, so my new favorite band is The Avett Brothers a S. Carolina based pre-civil war grunge group. That basically sounds like bluegrass, Nirvana, Doc Watson, with some screams thrown in for good measure.
